Just curious..
If it's made of real shark skin, the hi-tech sounds a little backward.

I think most are of synthetic materials instead of real shark skin, but who knows, it might be only part of the story....:)

Inspired by shark skin. Apparently its variable friction at different parts of the body suit that does the trick.

speedo site claims that 33 of 36 medals (more to go) were won in sharkskin suit and all but one world record was broken in sharkskin suit too:).http://www.speedousa.com

another interesting stuff a Chinese company that made speedo stuff is not making its own version of cheaper stuff probably reverse engineered look for "Yingfa Sharkskin".

The suits are designed to mimic the shark, natures fastest aquatic creature even more closely. Scanning electron microscope studies have revealed that tiny “teeth” (dermal denticles) cover the surface of a sharks’ skin that produce vertical vortices or spirals of water, keeping the water closer to the shark’s body and thus reducing friction. This phenomenon is known as the Riblet Effect, and research into shark skin is ongoing at NASA Langley Research Center. “It’s like a fast-moving river current versus the gurgling turbulence of a shallow stream.”says shark researcher George Burgess.
